From Back-Seat Chaos to Little Stops
Built by two dads who’d had one “are we there yet?” too many.
Little Stops is a small app with a simple mission: make long family car journeys a little bit easier, one well-chosen break at a time.
Who’s behind it
Gregor
Dad to almost-two-year-old Sophia. Builds the app.
Wallace
Dad to six-year-old James and two-year-old Julia. Chief tester & complainer-in-chief.
Both originally from Scotland, now living in England — and doing a lot of driving between the two.
The voice note that started it all
One evening, after a particularly long drive to Scotland to visit his parents (lots of “are we there yet?” from the back seats), Wallace sent Gregor a voice note. There had to be a better way of planning family journeys.
- Google Maps is a faff — you have to know exactly what to search for, with no sense of timing.
- Motorway services aren’t great for kids bursting with energy.
- It’s hard to tell which places are genuinely good for families — reviews rarely answer “would other parents recommend this with children?”
“I’d rather detour five minutes off the motorway to somewhere actually good for James and Julia.”
— Wallace, that evening
Gregor replied: “I think we can build an app that does exactly that.” And that’s where you’ve arrived today.

families have planned their journeys with Little Stops.
Not bad for two friends just having a vent.
Little Stops will always be free for parents.
“Built by parents, for other parents.”
And honestly — anyone planning a long journey will find it useful, kids or not.
What’s next
We keep improving Little Stops based on real feedback from parents. A few things we’re exploring:
EV charging
Extra detail for electric drivers on charging points along the way.
Voice search
Hands-free — just ask for a stop while you’re driving.
Add a stop
Let you add places we’ve missed, so the map keeps getting better.
Some of these features are easier to build than others, but we genuinely appreciate every suggestion. Please keep them coming!

We’ve built a space where parents share observations, hints, tips and recommendations with each other. Pop in and say hello.
Thanks for being here — and happy stopping!
